Morning showers ease, then mostly dry with brighter spells
A cloudy start this morning with the odd isolated shower but these gradually ease and most places stay dry. Cloud breaks through the day to give some bright or sunny spells, best inland.
The afternoon is largely dry, though a few showers return later, chiefly over Cumbria and the northern hills. This evening any showers become confined to the north, leaving a dry night with patchy cloud for most.
Highs of around 16C to 18C, warmest near the coast and in urban areas, falling to 11C to 13C overnight. A moderate westerly breeze brings gusts of 20 to 30 mph, strongest on exposed coasts and hills.
