Windy with sunshine and blustery showers today
Early rain clears east this morning, leaving sunny spells and scattered blustery showers. The showers will be most frequent across Cumbria and near Irish Sea coasts, while many inland parts of Lancashire, Greater Manchester and Cheshire stay largely dry with bright spells.
It stays windy all day with a brisk west to south-westerly breeze. Gusts reach 25 to 30 mph inland and 30 to 36 mph on exposed coasts and hills, making it feel cool despite highs of 15C to 17C.
Showers ease this evening, lingering mainly near western coasts overnight. Elsewhere it turns mostly dry but stays breezy, keeping the night rather mild with lows of around 10C to 12C. Cloud increases towards dawn ahead of rain moving in on Friday.
