This afternoon stays very hot and humid, with strong sunshine for many. Hit-and-miss heavy thundery showers may develop in places, especially around Cheshire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and the Pennines, but many areas remain dry.
Evening showers ease and become more confined to hills and northern areas. Tonight is mostly dry and muggy, though low cloud and a little light rain may affect northern hills by the early hours.
Temperatures reach 30C to 34C inland, fresher near Irish Sea coasts. Winds stay mostly light to moderate, with coastal breezes.
