Wet start, then sunshine and a few showers for the North West
A wet and blustery start this morning, with rain heavy at times across Lancashire, Greater Manchester and the Pennines. The rain clears quickly eastwards, leaving sunny spells for most by mid-morning as the winds ease.
This afternoon stays largely dry with warm sunshine, though a few showers develop, mainly over Cumbria and near Irish Sea coasts. Showers turn a little more frequent this evening, some locally heavy, before becoming confined to northern and western areas overnight with clear spells elsewhere.
Highs of 18C to 21C in the sunshine, cooler over the Cumbrian fells. A fresher night to come, with lows of 8C to 11C. Gusts of 30 to 35 mph on exposed coasts and hills around midday ease markedly by evening.
