Bright start, then turning wet and windy from the west
After a dry and bright start, cloud thickens quickly this morning as rain spreads in from the west. The rain turns heavy at times through the afternoon, especially over the western hills of Cumbria, before becoming more showery and clearing eastwards this evening.
It will be a windy day throughout, with a brisk south to south-westerly wind gusting 25 mph to 35 mph inland and 35 mph to 45 mph along exposed Irish Sea coasts and over the fells. Highs of 15C to 17C, warmest towards the coast.
Tonight, remaining rain clears east with showers and clear spells following, the showers mainly near western coasts. Staying windy, which keeps temperatures up at around 10C to 12C.
