Dry and fine today with warm autumn sunshine, breezier overnight
Today is a dry, settled day across North West England with lengthy sunny periods, though the sunshine may turn hazy at times. It will feel pleasantly warm in light winds, with highs of around 16C to 19C, warmest across Merseyside, Greater Manchester and Cheshire.
This evening stays fine with clear skies, turning chilly quickly after dark. Overnight remains dry for most, with temperatures dipping to around 5C to 8C in rural spots, but cloud increases from the south towards dawn.
The southeasterly breeze freshens overnight, with gusts of 18 to 25 mph developing along western coasts by the early hours - a sign of a much more blustery Tuesday to come, when cloudier skies and the odd spot of rain are possible.
